Prof. Sanjay H. Kurwade is a renowned Indian artist who has made significant contributions to the world of visual arts. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Govt. Chitrakala Mahavidhyalaya, Nagpur, in 1990, under the guidance of his mentor, Prof. Dhananjay Varma. His artistic journey has been deeply influenced by the teachings of his guru and the inspirational words of the legendary artist S.H. Raza, who encouraged him to focus on creating work that resonates with personal expression.Throughout his career, Kurwade has drawn inspiration from various iconic global artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, and Gustav Klimt. These influences can be seen in his rich, imaginative works, which blend intuition and imagination. His approach to painting involves visualizing the artwork in his mind before translating it onto the canvas or paper, a process that allows for both creative freedom and emotional expression.In addition to his artistic practice, Kurwade has spent over 26 years teaching art, contributing to the education of future artists at Sir J.J. School of Applied Art. His emphasis on creative thinking has impacted his students, encouraging them to approach art with an open mind and a sense of innovation.
